Jal Neti: Just to Clear Nose? Or Something More?

Do we ever clean our nose properly? That little pathway your breath takes — every second — carrying energy, calm, and life into you?
If your nose is blocked, your mind feels foggy, your mood drops. Right?
That’s why Jal Neti is not just about the nose. It’s about clearing space — inside and out.
What’s Jal Neti?
It’s a simple yogic practice. “Jal” means water. “Neti” means cleansing.
You take a small pot (Neti pot), pour warm salty water through one nostril, and let it come out from the other. That’s it.
Odd at first, but once you try — it feels fresh, clean, open. You breathe easy. Your mind slows down.
Why Try It?
Because the nose is the first door to your breath. And breath is life. It catches dust, smoke, pollution. But also, when we’re anxious or stressed, our breath shows it. Even emotions get stuck there.
Jal Neti clears physical and emotional stuff. It wakes up the brain, soothes the nerves, and gives mental clarity.
Great for people who meditate, do pranayama — or anyone who just wants a clear head.
How to Do Jal Neti?
Take a Neti Pot – Ceramic, metal, or plastic. I like ceramic.
Make the Water – Warm (not hot!), add a pinch of salt — like tears.
Stand or squat near a sink – Tilt your head sideways.
Insert spout into top nostril – Breathe from the mouth.
Let water flow out the other nostril – Then switch sides.
Blow gently after – Bend forward and let water drain.
Protip from a yogi friend: Try saying “aaaa…” while doing it — helps the water flow and makes it fun!
Who Can Do It?
Anyone dealing with:
Pollution, dust
Sinus, cold, allergies
Brain fog, stress
Breathwork or yoga practice
Even kids above 6 can learn it slowly.
When to Do It?
Best in the morning, before food.
Start with 3–4 times a week. You’ll feel the shift.
It’s More Than Hygiene
Jal Neti is a small act, but a powerful reset. No gadgets. Just salt, water, breath — and you.
Try it. Feel the difference. Because clear breath = clear mind.
